Indicative Pricing – Home & Small Business

Below is an indicative rate card to give you signal upfront, ballparks only, based on typical effort. Speak to me directly about your circumstances; we can often work something out that respects your reality (sliding scale, afterpay, priority for urgent needs, or reduced rates where it makes ethical sense). No gatekeeping, no pity, just practical help that puts agency first.

Generally, fees start at $50 for diagnosis or basic repair. Examples may be a simple wire resolder. For more involved jobs, our standard charge is $150.

Indicative Rates (inc GST)

Time-Based / Flexible Model (default for most work — upfront estimate, then hourly or prepaid blocks)

  • Hourly rate (consulting, board-level repairs, refurb, networking/homelab, custom projects) – $160–$220 per hour
    • Prepaid blocks: e.g., 4 hours upfront — $600–$800 (built-in discount for commitment)
    • Minimum: 1 hour on-site/complex; 30 min increments after
  • On-site call-out + initial diagnosis (first hour, Sydney metro) – $180–$220 (includes travel)

Common Fixed-Price Basics (when the scope is clear and predictable – we use these where possible for certainty)

  • PC/laptop optimise & clean (bloat removal, updates, thermal paste) – $80
  • SSD/RAM upgrade + optimisation (labour only) – $80
  • Simple gadget fix (software/port clean) – $50
  • Basic 3D print/laser etch (small one-off (50g), not custom object) – $20–$180

Complex / Refurb Estimates (time-based after assessment)

  • Board-level electronics / microsoldering – $150–$650+ typical range
  • Full device refurbishment – 2–6 hours ($120–$1,320 range)
  • Networking/homelab/automation setup – 2–8 hours ($120–$1,760 range)
  • Specialty/niche/vintage gear – $150–$900+ range

How we keep it real:

  • Send symptoms/photos/details first → I give written assessment + estimate (fixed if simple, time-based if deep).
  • You approve the scope before we start.
  • Urgent/after-hours: discuss add-on.
  • Repeat or multiple items: flexible adjustments.
  • Payment: EFT/PayID/Afterpay/cash on completion (deposit for parts/big jobs).
