Practical Electronics Repair, Diagnostics & Technical Services in Northmead

Norgan Technology provides electronics repair, laptop repair, board-level diagnostics, data recovery, custom PC upgrades, and small business technical support from a workshop in Northmead, Sydney.

The work is focused on real fault-finding, not guesswork.

That means diagnosing failed circuits, power faults, damaged connectors, liquid damage, storage problems, system instability, and devices that other repair shops may consider uneconomical or too difficult to repair.

I service Northmead, Parramatta, The Hills District, Greater Sydney, and selected mail-in repair jobs across Australia.

This is not a standard retail repair model.

This is repair-first technical work for people who want to understand whether something can actually be fixed before replacing it.

Core Services

Laptop Repair

Laptop repair for faults including:

  • no power
  • not charging
  • turns on then shuts off
  • liquid damage
  • overheating
  • broken charging ports
  • failed SSDs or storage issues
  • random shutdowns
  • damaged screens, hinges, keyboards, or connectors
  • board-level motherboard faults

Many laptop failures are not solved by swapping obvious parts. A dead laptop may have a failed MOSFET, shorted capacitor, damaged charging circuit, failed regulator, corroded board, or power rail fault.

Where repair makes sense, I diagnose the actual failure point instead of simply recommending replacement.

Board-Level & Component-Level Repair

Some faults sit deeper than the visible parts.

Board-level repair includes diagnosis and repair of:

  • shorted components
  • failed MOSFETs
  • charging circuits
  • voltage regulators
  • damaged traces
  • corrosion
  • connector damage
  • power rail failures
  • failed control boards
  • no-power electronics faults

This is the work most retail repair shops do not do in-house.

I also work with local IT and repair businesses that need complex jobs escalated for deeper diagnostics, microsoldering, or component-level repair.

Charging Fault, USB-C & DC Jack Repair

Charging problems are one of the most common faults I see.

This includes:

  • laptop not charging
  • loose USB-C ports
  • damaged DC jacks
  • broken charger sockets
  • failed charging circuits
  • USB-C power delivery faults
  • intermittent charging
  • charger detected but battery not charging
  • no voltage reaching the board

Sometimes the port is physically damaged. Sometimes the fault is further inside the charging circuit. The point is to test properly before replacing parts blindly.

Liquid & Water Damage Repair

Liquid damage does not always mean the device is dead.

I assess and repair:

  • liquid-damaged laptops
  • corroded circuit boards
  • water-damaged electronics
  • sticky or contaminated boards
  • devices that worked briefly then failed later
  • charging or power faults after liquid exposure

Liquid damage can cause delayed failure, corrosion, short circuits, and unstable behaviour. The sooner it is assessed, the better the chance of recovery.

Data Recovery & SSD Issues

I provide practical diagnostics for storage and data issues, including:

  • failed SSDs
  • unreadable drives
  • boot failure
  • corrupted Windows installations
  • degraded storage
  • external drive faults
  • data recovery from failing laptops
  • recovery before repair or reinstall work

Not every case is recoverable, and physically failed storage can be complex. The goal is to assess the risk clearly and avoid making the situation worse.

Custom PCs & Upgrades

I build, repair, and upgrade desktop systems for practical performance.

This includes:

  • custom PC builds
  • SSD upgrades
  • RAM upgrades
  • cooling improvements
  • graphics card installation
  • power supply replacement
  • system cleaning
  • performance tuning
  • gaming, workshop, business, and creator systems

The focus is stable, maintainable, useful machines — not RGB theatre with bad airflow.

Electronics Repair

I also repair and assess non-laptop electronics where replacement is difficult, expensive, or wasteful.

This can include:

  • car audio head units
  • amplifier boards
  • key fobs and remote systems
  • lamps and small household electronics
  • control boards
  • display electronics
  • unusual or discontinued devices
  • electronic modules that are no longer easy to replace

If it has a circuit board and failure makes the item unusable, it may be worth diagnosing.

E-Waste & Repair-First Assessment

Not everything should be repaired.

But not everything should be thrown away either.

A repair-first assessment helps determine whether a device is worth fixing, reusing, refurbishing, donating, selling for parts, or responsibly recycling.

Modern electronics often get discarded because nobody takes the time to diagnose them properly. Repair keeps useful devices in service longer and helps reduce unnecessary e-waste.

Mail-In Electronics Repair

For suitable jobs, I accept mail-in electronics repairs from across Australia.

This is best suited to:

  • laptops with no power
  • charging faults
  • circuit boards
  • damaged connectors
  • board-level faults
  • rare or hard-to-replace devices
  • repair jobs already diagnosed by another shop

Mail-in repair is not ideal for every device, but it can make sense when local options are limited or the item is worth deeper diagnostics.

Small Business IT & Systems Advice

Norgan Technology also provides practical technical support and systems advice for small businesses.

This includes:

  • Microsoft 365
  • email and DNS setup
  • WordPress and hosting
  • workflow automation
  • backups
  • device setup
  • networking
  • small office troubleshooting
  • practical systems design

This is not generic managed IT sales theatre. It is direct technical help from someone who understands systems from hardware through to cloud infrastructure.

Service Areas

All work is handled from my Northmead workshop.

Primary service areas include:

  • Northmead
  • Parramatta
  • The Hills District
  • Baulkham Hills
  • Castle Hill
  • Westmead
  • North Parramatta
  • greater Sydney

Selected mail-in jobs may be accepted from anywhere in Australia.

How the Service Model Works

The first step is usually assessment.

For simple faults, the path may be straightforward. For deeper board-level or intermittent faults, diagnosis may take time because the visible symptom is often not the real cause.

Where possible, I explain what has failed, what the repair options are, and whether the job is worth doing.

The aim is not to sell unnecessary work.

The aim is to give the device a fair diagnosis and repair it where that makes sense.
