Repair & Technical Case Studies

Some repairs are simple. Some technical problems are ugly. Some come in after another shop, platform, plugin, or system has already made a mess of things. The point of these case studies is to show how problems are approached properly: inspect, test, measure, isolate, confirm, then repair, harden, or redesign where practical.

• The laptop that died more
  I got a HP laptop in this week which initially didn’t turn on. After removing the battery I managed to get it to start, but why? The battery? It wasn’t until I was testing the power and moved the hinge, then zap, puff, magic smoke.

Tools on the Bench

The goal is not to make repair look magical. The goal is to make the process visible.
