Louis Rossmann declared war on Bambu Labs

Louis Rossmann declared war on Bambu Labs

A developer has been threatened by Bambu Labs for making code that makes a Bambu Labs printer work with Orca Slicer.

Orca slicer is one of, probably, the most popular 3D printing slicer software.

Louis has now posted the code and dared Bambu Labs to sue him!

More from Louis himself

This is about being able to use hardware however you like. Why should we be locked into proprietary software for something we own outright?

The HellofalaptoP – the huge burn and failure, and the recovery

The HellofalaptoP – the huge burn and failure, and the recovery

Today I had an urgent repair come in. A HP laptop. It was a nice-looking laptop, Zbook, an 8Th gen. The customer had been concerned as they used it daily.

I opened it up, tested the rails, and all were dead.

I checked the battery, 12 volts, a good sign. (The battery label had 11.8v marked, indicating a full charge).

I proceeded to remove the motherboard to continue the inspection of the power circuits on that side. Wha i found was not pretty.

What a mess! I thought this had completely fried itself! This looks lie a high current arc across the sruface of the trace that vapourised the mask. or did it?

However, once I had cleaned it with some ISO, and removed the blown cap. It all lit up and we got a display, and a windows boot.

We did it!

I could never find an electronics repair near me, so I started one.

Search for toy repairs, electronics repair, or board-level repair, and what do you find?

Often you will not find anyone close. If you’re in Northmead, Parramatta, or The Hills, you’re often given service centres in often remote locations.

Either that, or you hit a generalist, or a specialist can sometimes be worse, in that they only do specific repairs.

This is why I started Norgan Technology. A deeply expert repair service that isn’t overly specialised, or too shallow in expertise.

Water ddamaged laptops or devices.

No power or charge.

Port replacement.

Broken wires.

Phone firmware and unlocking from an old school ROM chef.

Microsoldering.

Hot air rework and reflow.

Dead batteries, or not holding charge any longer.

My ggoal is to reinvigorate the repair industry and the culture of long use and preservation.
